Ronald
Thomason - Vice President, Special Projects
Ronald J. Thomason is the President of
Infrastructure Security Solutions (ISS), a
transportation and supply chain security consulting
firm. Mr. Thomason is a specialist in
transportation, supply chain, and critical
infrastructure security, with over 25 years of
experience in international security operations.
Mr. Thomason served as Assistant Vice President
for Security at TranSystems, one of the leading
transportation S&E firms in the United States, where he
specialized in providing regulatory compliant security
solutions for the company’s transportation sector,
critical infrastructure and supply chain clients.
Mr. Thomason has been responsible for
developing and implementing security policies and
procedures for both P&O Princess and Renaissance Cruise
lines, two of the world’s largest passenger cruise
lines. In both positions he was responsible for
maintaining an active liaison with U.S. and foreign
government representatives, law enforcement authorities,
and maritime industry officials to implement programs to
enhance the security of maritime vessels, their
passengers and crew worldwide.
Mr. Thomason was instrumental in helping to
develop maritime counter-terrorism protocols, and
managed the first International Conference on Maritime
Counterterrorism. He has served on the International
Council of Cruise Lines’ Executive Security Committee,
and as a member of the Federal/Industry Maritime
Security Working Group. Ron has conducted security
audits of more than 100 ports, terminals, and shore
excursion venues in North and South America, Europe,
Africa, the Middle East, and Pacific.
He assisted in drafting the US Port & Maritime
Security Act of 2001, and has been called upon to
provide assistance to the Federal Law Enforcement
Training Center (FLETC) in developing the curriculum for
training and certification of maritime security
professionals for the Maritime Security Institute.
Mr. Thomason currently serves as Vice President,
Special Projects and is the MSC’s industry liaison.
He is currently working with various working groups
responsible for the development and implementation of
programs for compliance with UN Security Council
Resolution 1540.
